Rooted in empathy and respect, our mission is to provide unique and meaningful experiences set against the stunning Lake District, ensuring every event reflects your story and values. Whether it be a wedding, a funeral, a naming ceremony, a vow renewal – or any of my ceremonies – I take time to understand you, your loved ones, your wishes and your journey.

Unlike registrar-led or priest/vicar-led ceremonies, as an independent professional Celebrant, I have the freedom to create a ceremony that truly reflects you, your partner, or your dearly departed. I take the time to get to know you and your loved ones, designing a unique and memorable celebration tailored precisely to your wishes.

Hi, I’m Dom, the owner of “Spirit Of The Lakes Celebrant Services”

I am trained and accredited by, and affiliated to the Academy of Professional Celebrants – The APC, who awarded me a certificate of distinction as both a wedding & funeral celebrant.

I pride myself that I approach each ceremony with an open mind and a keen ear. I create a ceremony that delivers heartfelt stories, a true reflection of you and your loved ones – with empathy, respect and the appropriate level of gentle humour as directed by yourselves.

I’ve been happily married for 33 years, and am devoted to my family – my wife, my 3 sons, my grandson, my pet dog, my hens and my 2 pet sheep!

I suffered two major personal losses within just a few months, and was heavily involved in the celebration of their lives – writing and delivering the eulogies & tributes.

I gained so much comfort from speaking proudly at their funerals (and was told by so many that it gave them comfort too, many of whom asked if I did this professionally).

So, I decided it was time to try something new – something that would allow me to give others comfort when they’re at their lowest, and to help people celebrate their love for one another when they are at their highest.

We can incorporate pieces such as parental blessings, a unity candle, readings, poems, songs, personal promises to one another, and even handfasting if you wish to. It’s your day.

Although this is undoubtedly the saddest of occasions, a good funeral is about a celebration of life. This is an opportunity to look back on the life of your loved one – to remember fondly, to laugh at misplaced memories, and to gain comfort in hearing a tribute to your loved one that perfectly captures their essence, and what made them unique.
A celebration of life ceremony helps you find comfort, and give you an opportunity to “remember with sad smiles”. To see that remembering them can be done with a smile and maybe even a quiet chuckle, not just with sadness and pain.

I take the time to meet you beforehand, to fully get to know you and your dearly departed. I ask you to share all that you can – their life, their hobbies, schools, careers, funny moments, romance, proudest moments, the funny foibles or habits that made you love them all the more…. I draft a personalised tribute, and create any song-lists, poems, readings or photo tributes that you would like. I make sure that everything is in place, and ensure the ceremony goes ahead smoothly, respectfully and gracefully. Whether that be all me – or with the help of family and friends is down to you. Whatever you want.

Vow Renewal Ceremonies

A special anniversary? Ready to further celebrate your love with a vow renewal ceremony? Let’s make it a truly personalised experience this time, with your own twist. Maybe make it even more special by celebrating your love with the incredibly old tradition of hand-fasting, passed down from our ancestors in ancient Celtic & Pagan cultures. Pet Funeral / Memorials
